Part one, this journal

What arrives here

Only what you type into the letter form and send: your name, your email address, the subject you chose and your message. That is the complete list. There is no other form on this site.

Letters are kept for eighteen months from the reply, because a correspondence about a route often resumes a year later, and then they are deleted.

What is not collected

No account, no password, no payment detail, no address, no telephone number unless you type one into your own letter, no location, no device fingerprint and no advertising identifier.

There is no analytics code on this site. Not a self hosted one, not a privacy friendly one, not a counter. The journal genuinely does not know how many people read it, which is occasionally annoying and always simpler.

What sits in your browser

A single storage entry named `wa_notice_26`, holding one short word. Its whole job is to stop the notice slip reappearing on the next page you open. Clear your browser storage and it disappears. Beyond that entry this journal sets no cookie of any kind.

Who sees your letter

The desk, which is one person. The letter travels through a form delivery service to an email inbox, which is where email lives. Nobody else receives it, nothing is sold, nothing is shared for advertising and there is no advertising here to share it with.

Part two, the flight desk

The desk on the front page is described at length under flight search. What matters here is the timing, because that is the part such notices usually blur.

• While somebody types, nothing leaves the browser. The suggestions come out of a file served by this journal, exactly as its typefaces are, and no third party code runs anywhere on this site.
• Pressing the button is the handover. The browser goes to avia.mydomainetravel.com, our own subdomain, which a travel search company answers. It has the search from that instant and sets its own storage.
• Those searches do not reach this journal. We receive no search data, no passenger details and no booking details, and we could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
• If a booking follows, the company may pay us a commission. That report tells us that a booking happened, not who made it.
• Their handling of your data is governed by their own policy, not this one.

Never press it and no outside company is contacted on your visit at all.

Your rights

Ask for a copy of anything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to ledger@mydomainetravel.com from the address you wrote from.

Answers go out inside 30 days and usually the same week, because there is very little to search through. There is no charge and no form to fill in.

Legal basis, for readers who need it named

Where that phrase matters: letters are handled because there is a legitimate interest in answering correspondence sent to a publication, and kept afterwards for the same reason. No data here is used for marketing, and this journal sends no marketing email of any kind. There is no mailing list.

Children

This is a journal about walking around a city. It is not directed at children, and no data is knowingly collected about anybody under 16.

Security, described honestly

The site is served over HTTPS. Letters travel encrypted and arrive in an inbox that only the desk reads.

Nobody is going to call that impenetrable, because no inbox is. What can be said is that the damaging things are simply absent: no passwords, no payment details and no identity documents exist in these records at all.

Changes

When the policy moves, so does the date at the top, and a material change gets a sentence of its own in this section instead of arriving unannounced. Nothing has changed yet: this is version one.
